Throwin' it Back Old School Style

I was a DC Talk Fan when they first came out. They were "rappers" at that point. Anyway, all of a sudden, all the guys in my youth group didn't like them anymore. I was unaware of this newfound dislike and I went out and bought their tape. (That's right I said tape.) Those guys gave us girls a hard time for quite awhile until the group changed their musical genre and then they liked them again.

All these memories came flashing back this week because I bought Toby Mac's Welcome to Diverse City CD. Court is doing her solo in the recital this year to Burn for You. It is a hip hop style CD and she is doing a hip hop dance. It is funny because I enjoy this CD but I feel like I almost need to apologize for liking it. How long before childhood memories won't affect the actions in your adulthood?

BTW - If I could dance, I would dance to this album. I'm sure that I would probably pull something so I'll refrain. I can still manage to head bop though!

My Early Adult Allowance

I didn't have time to blog yesterday. I adjusted some settings which took longer than I anticipated. However, I had more important things to take care of...TAXES. That's right, I already filed my Federal. I received my W2 yesterday and I wasn't feeling that well so I thought I'd put it off. That was until somewhere around 10:30 last night when I got my second wind and decided to go online and just get it started. Well, I ended up completing the process instead. I usually wait until April to do them. It really doesn't make any sense because I know I am going to get a decent return. So, this year I decided to quit procrastinating and get it done. It should be deposited on Feb. 03 and I will probably turn around and spend it very quickly on obtaining a car. I somewhat hate to see it go so fast.............but then again I need to have a car.

So called Fanwear for Women

I understand I am traditionalistic. I was the kid that wanted to color the picture exactly as shown on the cover. I like abstract things but I don't like to see purple cows or red grass.

I am in marketing and so I understand that when you sell a product you want the money to come from both sides. However, this stuff drives me crazy. I hate to see fanwear that isn't in the teams colors. Isn't it possible to make a team shirt marketed to a woman and still keep the integrity of the team by actually using the team colors? I honestly believe this should be outlawed. When a food label claims to contain a certain item in a product they have to have a certain percentage of that item in the product. I believe the same should apply here. If they are going to make a team shirt it ought to have a certain percentage of the team colors represented. A pink Cubs shirt? Give me a break!

Dizzy

I recently participated in an Artist Trading Card swap with a forum I frequent. I used Prismacolor art markers on Canson acrylic paper. I titled this piece Dizzy. It was a lot of fun and I hope to do more of these.
